How To Put A Piping Tip On A Bag
If youre using a tip with no coupler I use this method when Im using a larger tip for frosting cupcakes just push the tip into the bag and trim the piping bag so that about half of the tip sticks out.
How to put a piping tip on a bag. Add a coupler icing to your decorating bag. If you are using a couple set insert the inside plastic piece into the bag first. In fact the main challenge is getting into all the tiny nooks and crannies.
Spoon in the icing. You dont want it to protrude out of the hole since the idea is to pinch the bag between the base and the collar. Use a pair of scissors to mark a spot on the bag about inch before the first thread on the narrow end of the coupler.
Use your hands to work the tip all the way down to the very top of the bag as far down as it will go. A decorating bag is used to pipe semi-solid foods by pressing them through a narrow opening at one end for many purposes including cake decoration. Place the coupler ring over the decorating piping or pastry tip.
Push the coupler right into the tip of the bag and smoosh the frosting down behind it to remove the air before snipping the plastic end off the bag. Put the bag inside a tall cup and fold the edges over the cup. Push it in tightly.
Add your tip and the screw top of the coupler like you normally do. The two-piece coupler allows you to switch tips without getting a new bag. Trim it as close to the coupler as possible.
Try a tip coupler. Slip the tip into the bag and place it snugly in the bottom of the bag. If you dont have nozzles you may need to fill 2-3 piping bags with the frosting and give a different shape to the tip of each bag.
